A courier tariff and rating engine calculates the price of every shipment from configurable rules — zones, weight slabs and per-customer rates — plus surcharges like fuel, tax and cash handling. iCargos resolves each rate through a defined lookup order and holds over 115,000 per-customer rate rows, so every account is billed to its own agreement.
For every booking the engine walks a fixed lookup order and takes the first tariff that matches the route — from the most specific to the most general.
Manual city, zone, state and country overrides slot into that order, so you can set an exact rate for a specific lane without touching the rest of the tariff.
Each service has weight slabs (e.g. 0–0.5 kg, 0.5–1 kg, 1–2 kg) with its own rate; the engine finds the slab your shipment falls into.
Weight above the top slab is priced per additional unit — and any fraction of a unit is charged as a whole unit, exactly as your T&Cs state.
A 0.5 kg minimum chargeable weight, and volumetric weight computed as (L × W × H) / 5000 for bulky parcels.
Per-customer rates always override the default tariff — so your biggest merchants get their negotiated pricing automatically, at booking time.
Everything added on top of the base rate is a setting — global, with per-account overrides.
| Surcharge | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Fuel surcharge | 35% of charges |
| GST / sales tax | 16% |
| Sales & income tax on COD | 2% each |
| Cash handling fee | ~1–1.5% of COD |
| Bank charges | Rs 85 flat |
A built-in rate calculator resolves the tariff, weight slab and surcharges for a route so you know the charge up front — the same logic that prices a live booking.
